Teaching and Thesis and Jobs…Oh my!

Worst blog post title ever.

I just applied to another job…like a minute ago. Reason being, well, I prefer life to death AND I’m graduating from art school in two months. Applying for jobs is like having your heart broken. There’s a lot of paperwork, crying, uncertainty, self-doubt, and you also think you’re the only one going through it. I know there are a lot of people out there vying for jobs, struggling to make-ends meet, and I should certainly be empathetic of that fact, but damn it! I need work and I don’t care how many mouths you have to feed, I need that job! Calm….Calm…

I’ve obviously placed a lot of pressure on myself to find work. I’ve built it up as a measure of my self-worth, as something that will dispel the imaginary critics for questioning the choices I’ve made. I have certainly taken risks in my life, and to know that they’ve paid off, well, that would mean the world to me. Of course this line of reasoning may or may not cause a brain hemorrhage.

On top of this I’m teaching a sophomore level photography course and writing/producing a thesis. I know, I know, oh whoa is the poor white graduate student who’s had just about the easiest fucking life on earth. Yes yes, I deserve that, but it’s my blog, so if you’re reading this, you probably assume a level of narcissism.

So to the literally dozens of people who read this blog, I appreciate your patience with me and my slightly self-centeredness.

Oh, and if you’re hiring, I’d be glad to send you my resume.
